Photo Stories: A Cheerful Friend

Title: A Cheerful Friend
This little yellow flower is quite happy to see you.
This photograph comes from November 15, 2008. I found the little yellow flower in a sea of pasture grass, took a couple of shots and decided from the camera's preview screen that I couldn't get the right angle for a good picture. It wasn't until I was picking through the photos later that I noticed how nice the composition ended up. Unlike many of my pics, this one wasn't cropped at all; what you see is what I took. Anyway, this is the only plant of its type I saw on my trek that day, but I don't remember this part as well as I remembered others. I do know this was on my way out to the main destination.

I like this one! You never know what you'll find when searching through old photographs :) This is how the majority of my photography is done: "what you see is what you get" (as you put it). I don't do any photo editing on my photos, not because I don't like the results, but simply because I like to preserve the beauty that was really there. My brother, on the other hand, does a lot of photo editing. And it's neat stuff he does, too! Two different forms of art, but both can be beautiful.

Thanks for the comment Sam.

As far as editing goes, this picture wasn't cropped for better composition, it was still put through the same post-processing as my others.

Digital cameras don't "see" as much light as color film, which didn't "see" as much as B/W film, and no film "sees" things as our eye does. Most of my editing is to bring the photo closer to what my eye really saw.

Thanks for stopping in.
